Sega brings Super Monkey Ball to the Wii Balance Board
With the release of the Gamecube in 2001, I joined the throngs of Nintendo fans who couldn’t get enough launch day gaming. Like many, I discovered Super Monkey Ball with its colorful graphics and unique gameplay and later watched as the sequels never really brought anything new to the table.

Don’t be afraid, AiAi!
With the Wii Balance Board, Sega has a chance to create a new experience once more, even if the colorful worlds and bubbly characters aren’t changing much.
Sega’s teaser trailer shows off the beautiful Wii version of Super Monkey Ball.
With an ambiguous release date of Winter 2010 (January? December?), Sega has revealed Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll and the game will have players wobbling around on the Balance Board to tilt the level in the game and send those encased simians for a ride.
The Balance Board is suited to the task, as the marble-rolling minigame in Wii Fit has shown, but the Board is not as precise as a standard controller, so hopefully Sega will cut gamers some slack on their notoriously difficult (read: masochistic) level designs.
